Special Exhibition
2026/04/24 – 2026/08/31
Organized by: Takashi Ito
Hundreds of thousands of people were affected by the two atomic bombs dropped by the United States on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Among them were not only Japanese people but also approximately 50,000 Koreans in Hiroshima and 20,000 in Nagasaki. Had it not been for Japan’s colonial rule of Korea, so many Koreans would never have been exposed to the bombings. These Korean survivors faced discrimination even in the immediate aftermath of the disaster and have long been excluded from the Japanese government’s relief measures.
This photography exhibition features numerous portraits of survivors who returned not only to the Republic of Korea but also to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
