Do I need to know anything about this history before visiting?

No prior knowledge is needed. The permanent exhibition guides visitors through the history of Utoro and zainichi Koreans — Koreans who settled in Japan, many from the colonial period onward — step by step, through photographs, documents, and personal testimony.
Most people arrive knowing very little, and many say the exhibition was easier to follow than they expected. If you’d like a guided experience, our public tours are open to individual visitors of all backgrounds.
